Fig. 3. Effect of Epalrestat on inhibition of intracellular ROS formation by DCFH-DA staining. Graphical representation of fluorescent intensity shows that H2O2 (100 μM) treatment significantly increased the fluorescent intensity compared to control cells. Epalrestat (50 μM) treatment inhibited a significant level of ROS generation in H2O2-treated SHSY5Y cells. The cells treated with EPS alone remained as healthy as control cells. The fluorescent intensity was calculated as mean ± S.D. in each group. *p < 0.05 compared to control and #p < 0.05 compared to peroxide alone-treated group.
